Round 16 – Training, Wrap and Ball

Training

Club Training is on tonight  at Trumper Oval, Glenmore Road, Paddington 6:30pm. Three games to go until finals so we really need to be working hard over the next few weeks to make sure we hit peak fitness at the start of finals.

Weekly Wrap – Petersham

A Blue Rinse requested, a Blue Rinse delivered. It’s always difficult to win away from home and Saturday showed exactly why the blue giants are a force to be reckoned with come September. Perhaps the state of the field, being similar to our own meant that we felt like it was a home game…

Suthos and Judd were as always, ruthless in their wins against Petersham and Judd put together a definite contender for try of the year to close out their match, it was outstanding to watch.

Whiddo’s had a tougher match but nonetheless, came away with a bonus point win to put them on top of the ladder with a game in hand over second placed St Pats. Colties are conitnuing their return from holidays with a very sound second half performance to deliver another bonus point victory.

Burkies were extremely impressive in their demolition of a pretty solid Petersham Burke cup side and showed a real hunger to put through 5 tries, great effort boys. Kentwell were slow out of the blocks but then put in a very solid ‘rest-of-the-first-half’ to lead 24-5 at half time. Then continued the worrying recent trend of switching off to allow Petersham back into the game before kicking away again to lead by 21 with 10 to go. Unfortunately, the boys completely gave up at that point and leaked 3 tries but only 2 conversions to narrowly escape 38-36. A win’s a win but we will need to be far better in the next few weeks.

This week

This week we have our make-up game against Drummoyne from way back in Round 9. The dirty reds are a strong club so it will take some big efforts this week and weekend to roll them. Make sure you get to training tonight as there is a lot of work to be done.

Games this weekend are at McKay oval in Centennial park so make sure you don’t turn up to BGS. Further details to follow later in the week regarding game times.

After the games, the Blue Giants Room at the Woollahra Hotel has been booked so we can head up for a few speeches, $5 Carltons and half priced meals before watching the first Bledisloe. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Colleagues Ball

The Annual Colleagues Ball is Woollahra Colleagues night of nights. This is all about the glamour of colleagues and a chance to step out in your finest kit with the trophy girl by your side.
