The Blue Giants travelled to Leichardt Oval #2 on the weekend to take on Balmain in all grades bar Sutherland who unfortunately faced another forfeited side. All grades were in for a tough away fixture against top 4 sides and didn’t the boys show up?! Judd kicked it off in fine style with a running rugby clinic before Whiddon ground out a tight but convincing win. The colties are having some issues with the university holidays stealing a good number of their ‘senior’ players but showed glimpses of what is to come in August and September. Burkies were surely the highlight of the day, showcasing some brutal defence and dominating the set piece to finish well clear of last years premiers. Kentwell continued right where Burkies left off and despite leaking a late try, finished strong winners against a good Balmain outfit, which augurs well for another big match this week against Knox who are sitting third on the ladder.
Fantastic performances by all players on the day and the challenge now is to continue to build this momentum towards the finals.
