OLD COLLEAGUES NEWS SEPTEMBER & G.F. UPDATE.
Thats a wrap for the season.
Blue Giants contesting the Halligan, Sutherland, Judd, Whiddon and Barbour Cups Grand Finals was a fantastic effort for the club. Every player and coach should be proud of their season. Although we only took the Halligan and Judd Cups home every other team was in the game right up until the last minutes.
From an Old Colleague perspective the Colleagues set a high winning rugby standard so a G.F. loss can feel devastating however G.F.wins are not easy to come by and there are six other teams who want to play G.F.’s and a full season of team victories that make up the season to get you there. And besides isn’t that why god created beer? to get over a footy loss
Special mention to the Colleagues Blue Birds who in their second season contested the finals. Also special mention to the Colleagues Kentwell, who played some entertaining and outstanding rugby during the year and put together some gutzy come from behind never say die victories.
The Blue Giants celebrated another “Sky Blue Winter” with a mad Sunday, Sydney harbour boat cruise. I heard it was a great afternoon out, I didn’t hear of any one going overboard and the Judd and Halligan trophies made back to the Oak afterwards !
One final comment, the Blue Giant camaraderie and club spirit on show in 2026 was evidence the C.R.U.F.C is one of the great rugby clubs anywhere.

Looking to season 2027 some interesting movement for the competition structure next year. Drummoyne came last in the First division Club Championship and UNSW was winner of the Second division Club Championship. How will the Dirty Reds handle the drop to Barraclough Cup ? and with UNSW coming to Kentwell Cup how strong is rugby in the Eastern side of the harbour?
