Colleagues @ Petersham Round 11

Colleagues take on Petersham

Colleagues head to Camperdown Oval on Saturday to take on current Club Champs Petersham. The Blue Giants are currently in 3rd place, 300 points behind the Shammie and a Blue Rinse could see us jump into first place for the first time this season.

It will be no easy task though for the men in blue. Petersham are on top of us in 4 out of 6 grades, and our Kentwell Cup side are yet to get a win at this venue since Petersham were promoted to Division 1 three years ago.

With three rounds to go all Colleagues sides are in Finals contention, but will be fighting to the last round to keep it that way. Young utility forward Josh Moloney (right) will make his second start in two weeks at open side flanker for Kentwell Cup. Josh was a standout at training during pre-season and has been a consistent performer in Burke Cup even when filling in in the centres for a few injured backs.

Our 2nd Colts team are playing in the Radford Cup Grand Final on Saturday against Lane Cove. The game will be at 11:15am at Tantallon Oval, Lane Cove. If you can make it down to support our colties that would be great. Well done to the lads.

#FakeNews

* Bunsen burns, as hammer of Subbies “Mattiwoc County” Judiciary looms: A despondent Colleagues veteran, and sunscreen enthusiast, Nick “Bunsen” Watson, was recently spotted in Newtown splurging his fortnightly Centerlink minority entitlement on a pack of “Winnie Reds, bra”. This has come as a surprise to teammates, considering the diminutive nightwalker has more recently been known for annoyingly espousing the benefits of living a clean vegan lifestyle, rather than doing his job as a Bourke flanker. The flame haired socialist has made a habit in recent seasons for missing large stretches to attend Yoga retreats at various progressive liberal meccas, such as Bali and Byron bay, and was starting to hit some form as his “Chakras had now aligned with the moon in it’s fifth stage”.

Over a chai latte at BGS, the pint size pest admitted that he recently became “Lung-ry” due to the pending charges that have been leveled at him by a visiting referee from Mattiwoc County, Wisconsin (the county made famous in the Netflix smash hit “Making a Murder”). Sources close to the case report that the referee has accused Bunsen for establishing an elaborate people smuggling syndicate, resulting in the death of Nicole Brown Simpson and her “friend”, during the middle of a recent Bourke cup game. Witnesses accounts differ slightly, and it seems that the Social Justice Warrior may have been misheard upon sensing the referee was a kindred spirit of victimization, and was in fact offering him a guest speaking spot to vent at the next Bondi Communist Brotherhood party meetup. In a turn of good news, the club is happy to report that they have secured the services of Bourke Cup captain, Jonnie “Cochran” Willis, who despite not liking red heads as a general rule, has agreed that taking on the charity case of defending a minority as a “good career move”. Asked for comments, the humble solicitor confidently replied “If the Ranga does not fit, you must acquit”. More to come.

* Passionate Greek implicated in non-stereotype aligned gambling syndicate:Bourke cup coach Peter “When is Izzy back” Minocus, and Cameron “Glass shoulder” Ireland, have also faced the wrath of the referee from Mattiwoc county. In what started out as the tee up for a great pub joke: a Ranga, Greek and Irishman walk into Colleagues old boys day, has turned out to be the source material for an even greater work of fiction. Regardless, ASIO have launched a joint investigation with the Baltimore police department in to the reason why in the middle of winter, an “angry” well dressed Greek gentleman was attending a Bourke cup game, with an SJC members pass strapped to his hip. Looking at the balance of probability, which is certainly not influenced by racial stereotyping, ASIO have deduced that Minocus must be involved in spot fixing of Bourke cup games, and washing the proceeds down at the ponies. The tip was in for the ref when Minocus pointed out that Bourke cup game was over, and it could not continue indefinitely as the sun went down. The claim was supported by the Kentwell coaching staff who had their team searching for night vision googles to play the following game. This has proven ample evidence to launch a full inquiry dating back to the start of Minucos’ tenure as Bourke coach in 1998. As investigators have explored this case, it appears that the tragic death of Hae Min Lea, from Baltimore USA in 1998, is directly linked, and as such the star of season one of the podcast “Serial”, Amed Sayed, is looking at a retrial based on this new shocking evidence. Asked for comment, Sayed has stated that he expects to be available to step into the breach for the Blue Giants come finals time. In related news, sources close to Ireland are asking for his whereabouts on November 22nd, 1963, where it is believed that a fresh faced Ireland attended the Colleagues Bourke cup post season tour to Dallas Texas. Please come forward if you have any information to share with authorities.
